Gatsby. What Gatsby?

I don't know about you but I am far too excited about the release of The Great Gatsby, it looks utterly spectacular. It's as if the film gods heard my prayers, and threw all of my favourite things into one film; amazing storyline, costumes, soundtrack, actors, have I missed anything? I've been excited for this film since last year, so come May 10th I shall be a very very happy girl.
So, where to start?
Okay firstly, the costumes. Oh my god, the costumes. Miuccia Prada has collaborated with Catherine Martin, the films costume designer, to create wonderfully luxurious Twenties gowns, whilst taking inspiration from the Prada and Miu Miu archives, need I say more? Oh and the jewelry is by Tiffany's. (Excuse me whilst I cry.)
Here are some of the sketches by Miuccia Prada:
Gorgeous right?
Oh the dress envy...
Love the neck detail on this black dress.
Then there's the soundtrack. Lana Del Rey, The XX, Florence and The Machine, some of my favorite artists - I really don't know how this happened, I lucked out apparently. Never have I ever seen such an amazing soundtrack for any film, like, ever.

There's also the director, Baz Lurhmann. To be honest, I couldn't think of anyone better to direct this particular film, the lavishness and extravagance of Gatsby's soirees could only ever be done justice by such a director as Lurhmann. Who is renowned for stunning visuals and dramatic staging, take Moulin Rouge as an example.
When Lurhmann puts on a show, he puts on a show.

Lets not forget the acting talent -Leonardo Di Caprio. Just, wow, okay, yes I may or may not be crushing on him huge amounts. The impeccably tailored suits and mysterious Gatsby allure are just not helping either, seriously what are they trying to do to me here? Whilst he has some rather large shoes to fill in the form of Robert Redford, there is no doubt in my mind he'll be every inch as wonderful as Gatsby, if not more.
Also Carey Mulligan, who whilst being relatively new to the Hollywood scene, has landed herself a role in one of the biggest films this summer, which is pretty damn impressive I'd say. I think she'll do a good job as being Daisy from what I've seen so far.
I may just add here, that I happen to be unashamedly jealous of her right now, Prada, Tiffany's and Leo - can a girl ask for more? I think not.
Tobey Maguire is playing Nick Carraway, now, I won't lie, I've never really been a fan of his acting, (Spiderman 3 kinda ruined him for me. He just did so much crying, and lest we forget that dance scene). However I shall hold my judgement and wait til I see the film before I criticize.
Also have just found out Isla Fisher is in the film too, cool right? Loved her acting since Confessions Of  A Shopaholic.
Now, I am no film critic and probably have no idea what I'm talking about, but I am so excited for the release of this film, and I am predicting a lot of Oscar nominations for this one, in many of the categories. I swear down if Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't get one for this, I'll start some sort of petition. No kidding.
Here's the newest trailer for the film, just be warned you will get shivers and heart palpitations, this is normal. However if you go into cardiac arrest do call someone...because that probably isn't normal, I mean I know it's exciting, but come on now.

DIY Cardigan - Plain to Pretty!

So I picked up a simple brown cardigan in the Topshop sale a while ago, however I felt it looked a bit plain. So I decided, with the help of my mum, to embelish it a little.

The first change made was these little bows on the pockets. These were just stiched on.

Then I (or..ehem..my mum) added the pearl trim on the neck.
Then finally, we added these cute ditsy flower print buttons from Liberty.

And the finished product!

I really like the personal stamp just a few simple and quick customisations here and there can make. I thought the additons added a charm to a once plain cardigan, and will look good in summer to throw over pretty lace dresses.
Hope you like!

Birthday Haul!

I recently (or not so recently considering it is now 2 weeks ago, but oh well) celebrated my 18th birthday!(which was fun until I realised this meant I was like a proper adult and stuff, then I got scared and proceeded to hide under my duvet).
Anyways here's the lovely presents given to me by family and friends! (Mostly family, my friends mainly got me alcohol, which you know, I'm not complaining about. I believe that Blueberry Smirnoff should come in very handy at a later date).
So firstly, I received this cute pale green boucle biker jacket from H&M from my mum, and this coral peplum top from New Look which look awesome together. I also got these super snazzy earrings, I really love the perspex detail, and they'll go well with the jacket and top.
Also received was this gorgeous opal ring from my parents, I think they heard my not so subtle hints about how I really really like opals, or something. Along with that I got these lurrvley sunglasses again from Topshop, which I like to think harp back to the 1940's (kinda), and Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet which I have already received a lot of complements about!
I also got two new Pandora charms, I sense a flower theme going on here no?
Then two dresses, a lace dress from Primark, with this sweet bow detail at the back, which will be perfect for summer, if we ever actually get any sun. The second dress I wore that night, and was this black dress from Missguided, I especially liked the floaty skirt contrasting with the structured top half, with the slit down the chest, because lets face it, that's about as revealing as I'm willing to go.

I got two pairs of shoes, these brown leather weaved flats from Topshop which will look good with all manner of dresses and skirts in the summer (if we ever have one). And secondly these boots from Chockers which I wore when me and my friends went out that night. To be honest I'm surprised I didn't trip, fall and break my neck, myself intoxicated and in heels is a big no no.
So those were some of my favourite presents, I had a great birthday, and apologise again for the lateness of this post!

Take a tour round Liberty with me!

Wow, so it's been a while eh? Apologies for the lack of post's recently, life has been pretty hectic these past few months!
So a few days ago I went to London again, and this time went to the British institution that is Liberty a department store int the West End of London that was first opened in 1875. The visit was in order to see if I could find anything to spend my birthday money on (18 - woo- or perhaps not as it means I may have to adopt the behaviors of a real life adult - yelp) but alas I didn't find anything within my price range, however still had an awesome time walking round and looking.
Yes yes yes, outfit repeat, I'm sorry, I apologies from the very bottom of my heart, I really do.
There were so many things to see, and my favorite section was of course the fashion, I was nearly sent into a comatose state at all the gorgeous, yet unobtainable, garments surrounding me. My favorite section was by far the Vintage section, I smugly instagrammed a few pictures (my followers don't need to know I could never dream of owning a vintage Chanel) before having to move on in case risking spontaneous combustion. I like vintage, a lot, however designer vintage is just too much for one girl to handle in one day.
1890's Chanel and 1990's Dolche & Gabbana (swoon)
Asides from the designer garbs in the fashion department, I kinda fell in love with the tea sets too, all pretty flowery and kitsch, just how I like it, unfortunately no smug instagram photos were taken of these, sadly.
However I found some cute flower pots and paper birds! (I'm not quite sure either...just go with it)

So I said "tour" in the title, what I really meant was sweeping visit in which I show you fuzzy instagrams of paper birds, whilst you picture me hyperventilating under a pile of vintage Dolce&Gabbana.

Better posts to resume when I can gather my senses after being bombarded with school stress.
